It’s a beautiful May in the neighborhood and we look forward to seeing you at the activities we will be hosting this year! First and foremost is our annual South Capitol Neighborhood Association membership meeting where we will say adieu to some of our board members and vote in new ones to take their place.
Our annual meeting will be held on Weds, June 11th, 7-8 pm in the Lincoln Elementary School cafeteria.
We will be (snail) mailing an invite to all 600+ houses, businesses and apartments in the neighborhood. It should be sent out soon, so please keep an eye on your mailbox for it.
What else do we plan to do at our annual meeting?
In addition to electing new board members (or re-electing current ones), we must:
- Read the minutes of the previous board meeting (I’ll keep them short)
- Give reports (President and Treasurer)
- Transact any other business mentioned in the notice
- Adjourn
That’s it. If we want to do other things once we finish the official part – like meet new neighbors and eat, drink and be merry – we certainly can and will.
In order for us to have a successful meeting and vote in new board members, we must have at least 25 members of the South Capitol Neighborhood Association attend. I just checked, and at this moment, we have around 140 members, which makes us very happy. Many many thanks to those of you who have joined!
And, for those of you who have not yet joined, this plug is for you! It’s quick and easy, free, and most importantly – we can’t do what we do without your support. Renters are especially welcome and encouraged to join! So, please please go to our website and sign up.
And then please oh please plan to attend the membership meeting on June 11th. (Did I mention we need 25 members there?) To sweeten the deal, we’ll do a door prize drawing from the names of those who attend and give one lucky winner a $100 gift card to Vic’s Pizzeria – so there’s even more reason to come.
Mark your calendars for 7 pm, June 11th, Lincoln School, and we’ll see you then!
