New Residents

Welcome! Below is information to help you set up your new home in the neighborhood. We also have a magazine with much of this info and a page for posting on your fridge so the important numbers are at your fingertips. If you haven’t already received one from seller, landlord or neighbor, please send us an email at info@southcapitolneighborhood.com and let us know where to drop it off.

We’d also like to welcome you to a board meeting once you’re settled in; they are on the third Tuesday evening of each month at 6:30 p.m., these days via zoom, but you’ll find more information on our About Us page along with minutes of recent meetings and a link to attend the next one.

RECYCLING
The large county waste and recycling center at 2420 Hogum Bay Rd NE, just off Route 5 at Marvin Rd., accepts all recycling materials including those you cannot place in bins such as styrofoam, appliances and electronics, some chemicals, glass, and clothing. Yard Waste and other Garbage are accepted with fees based on weight.

PARKING
You may register your personal vehicle for on-street parking within your residential zone. Permits are recorded with the city, they are not physical. Permits can be purchased in person at City Hall, 601 4th Ave E. (Mon-Fri, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.) or at www.olympiawa.gov/services/parking_services.

Documentation required:

  • driver’s license
  • current registration
  • proof of insurance
  • proof of residency (mortgage/lease plus official mail)

Neither resident or visitor permits are physical items here in Olympia. Instead they add you or your visitor to their database for non ticketing for some period of time; with visitors it is normally up to 10 days. To register your visitor, visit the parking services link above or call in your guests’ car’s make, model and license plate no to 360-753-8017.
