SCNA Comment on Olympia Comprehensive Plan and Environmental Impact Statement

Submitted by Gordon White:

The City’s been pretty busy in its update to the Comprehensive Plan (Comp Plan). The Comp Plan update will direct many changes to the land use and zoning densities of our neighborhoods. Increasing the supply of housing is an important goal of this update. In order to fully evaluate and assess the impacts of changes in the Comp Plan, the City is doing an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). SCNA members have reviewed key parts of the draft EIS, found important gaps and reported these to the SCNA Board. Here is the letter, drafted by Board member Gordon White, which the Board sent to the City.  We hope it helps the City improve its analysis of impacts so city planners and city residents can better understand and avoid unnecessary impacts.
