Adopt-a-Drain needs your input!

BEFORE: a stormwater drain crying out for some TLC

Cameron Coronado, senior stormwater outreach & engagement specialist for the City of Olympia, said the city will be launching an Adopt-A-Drain program soon to encourage members of the community to help reduce flooding and stormwater pollution by clearing leaves, litter, and sediment from storm drains in their neighborhoods.

But, before they launch the program, Cameron and his team want to understand any potential barriers that our community may face in cleaning storm drains, as well as what would encourage and motivate folks to perform regular cleaning and reporting.

So Cameron reached out with a favor to ask. Would we send out a short survey and encourage you to take it?

After I rescued a clogged drain near my house yesterday, I clicked on the link and took the survey, because I was curious what the questions would be like, and skeptical that it would take less than three minutes to complete (it really did).

Cameron said your feedback will help them improve their engagement materials and outreach methods to increase participation in the program, AND he will be eternally grateful if you take the survey. (I confess, I added that last bit, but I’m sure it’s true).

Here’s a link to the storm drain survey

If you have any questions or would like to provide additional input, please feel free to contact Cameron at ccoronad@ci.olympia.wa.us.

AFTER: pretty clean – no flooding will be happening here!
