Searching for Potential Legislative Page Host Families

Submitted by Brittany Gillia, Associate Planner, City of Olympia

Myra Hernandez, the Director of Civic Education for the Washington State Senate, is trying to connect with folk that might be interested in becoming a Page Host Family. This program invites 14-16-year-old students from all over the state to serve in Olympia for one week during the legislative session. The issue they encounter is providing resources for affordable housing, and having Page Host families drastically reduces costs for families. There are no geographic location requirements, but host families would provide transportation to and from work.

Getting a solid 5-8 options by the middle of December would be very helpful for students. This legislative session runs for 60 days in 2026, and pages would start needing housing on January 11th. The final day of the page program will be on March 13th, so a total of 9 weeks is when Pages will be needing housing. Each week, it is a new cohort of pages as no page can participate in the program twice.

There is a flier attached with more details, and if you have any questions you can reach out to Myra atMyra.Hernandez@leg.wa.gov.
