Funding for Energy Efficiency Improvements to Affordable Rental Properties

Submitted by: Brittany Gillia, Associate Planner/Historic Preservation Officer, City of Olympia

The City of Olympia, in partnership with Olympia Community Solar, is launching the SHARE Accelerator pilot program to connect interested owners of affordable rental housing within city limits to funding, guidance, and resources to streamline energy efficiency as well as health and safety upgrades to their rental units.

This pilot program is completely voluntary and only those interested in participating should apply.

The pilot program will support 10 qualified rental units between 2026-2029, helping to create healthier, safer, and more energy-efficient homes by providing:

·        Free building assessments and upgrade recommendations

·        Approximately $15,000 of program-exclusive funding and incentives per rental unit

·        Free technical assistance and project management support to complete building upgrades

Visit the www.olympiawa.gov/share to learn more about program eligibility, read our frequently asked questions, and submit an application.

Applications will close on April 3. Selected applicants will be contacted by the end of April to schedule a consultation meeting, to see if the SHARE Accelerator is a good fit for your rental unit. We look forward to receiving your application and supporting safe and efficient housing in our community!

Feel free to reach out to Dominic Jones if you have any questions or need more information.
