Summer BBQ Success!

Many thanks to those who were able to attend last Sunday’s BBQ potluck at Lincoln School. Our motley crew of board members, family and friends braved the afternoon sun to schlep grills, tables, chairs and ice chests from cars and trucks to set up the playshed for an afternoon of fun and celebration.

Then things got cooking. Neighbors chowed down on hamburgers, hotdogs, ribs and wonderful homemade salads – whoever made the sweet potato/celery salad, I’d like the recipe!

The Randy Band entertained us with favorite hits from summers past as the heat slowly diminished. Adults left the shade and ventured outside to enjoy a light breeze and conversation with neighbors old and new. Little kids needed no encouragement to run around. With the playground and field close by, they kicked and tossed balls, flew toy airplanes, bowled, colored, swung on swings, slid on slides, built towers out of colored blocks and generally wore themselves out.

Many thanks, too, to the neighbors who contribute to the neighborhood association’s fund, which allowed us to put on this summer event. Our suggested annual dues are $15 a year. Information about how to pay dues is on the website.

We hope to host this event again, so if you weren’t able to come this time, we hope to see you next year!
