Know Your Rights Training brings neighbors together

Morgan Montes, SCNA Treasurer

On July 8, 2026, the South Capitol Neighborhood Association was pleased to host the Thurston County Immigrant Solidarity League (THISL) for a Know Your Rights training. Thank you to everyone who joined us for an evening of learning and thoughtful discussion.

The presentation provided an overview of constitutional rights that apply to everyone, regardless of immigration status, and offered practical information about how neighbors can respond safely and appropriately if they witness immigration enforcement activity. Attendees also learned about local resources, including rapid response efforts, accompaniment programs, and ways to support immigrant families in our community.

One of the things that makes the South Capitol special is neighbors caring for one another. Events like this help us better understand our rights, learn about local resources, and build a stronger, more connected community.

If you weren’t able to attend or if you’d like to review the information, here’s a link to the presentation deck, for your reference. We encourage you to take a look and share it with others who may find it helpful.

Thank you again to the volunteers from THISL for sharing their time and expertise with our neighborhood.
