Questions we occasionally hear include, “How does the South Capitol Neighborhood Association (SCNA) use the dues it receives?” or “When do we pay dues?”
The SCNA is an all-volunteer community organization dedicated to keeping our neighborhood informed, connected, and engaged. While our board members volunteer their time, there are still basic operating expenses required to keep the association running effectively.
Each year, the neighborhood association incurs the following expenses:
- Liability Insurance $440
- Post Office Box Rental $126
- Google Workspace & Email $110
- Website and Domain $100
- Secretary of State Annual Filing Fee $20
- Annual Meeting Invitation & Postage $900
- Annual Meeting Gift Card Drawing Prize $100
Total Annual Expenses = $1,796
These expenses help ensure that the SCNA can communicate with neighbors, maintain transparency through meeting records and announcements, meet legal requirements, and host our annual neighborhood meeting.
While payment of dues is not required for membership, annual dues play an important role in supporting the association’s work.
Our suggested annual dues are $15 per household. In addition to dues, the SCNA Board actively seeks City of Olympia grant funding to support neighborhood events and special projects.
